Skatepark

The skate park has been open for 2 weeks now and already everyone is doing some crazy tricks. No one is holding back this year. Unfortunately I sprained my ankle and did something to my knee, so I will probably be unable to skate for a week or two. I can still film however. This year I will be making a full lengthDVD of tricks at the park. It will probably be close to 45 minutes. Everyone that wants a part can have one. I am really excited to work on this project. Everyone come by the park this season and skate. It’s always a good time. See you there.

Clifton Park Action Park

It’s that time of year again, the skatepark is re-opening. We’ve all waited so long for this day. April 1st will be the opening day. The park will be open until October 31st. It is $6 per day for Clifton Park residents and $12 per day for Non Clifton Park residents. The hours are 10 a.m. to 8p.m. (or dusk) Saturdays and Sundays and 4p.m. to 8p.m.(or dusk) Monday-Friday for April-June and September-October. July to August the hours are 10a.m. to 9p.m. (or dusk) for the week. See everyone there.

What gets you pumped?

Ever just watch a killer part, and have the BIGGEST urge to go out and skate?! I know i do all the time! Or how bout your favorite song starts playing on you iPod, you just want to hop on your board and shred a bit or even just cruise and bomb some hills. Either way skateboarding can really get you hyped. It can make a day go by really fast or really slow. You find your self staring out the window until that bell says” alright everyone get out and go home.”All you are thinking is, “time to skate”. Skateboarding will be forever in your mind. So what gets you pumped? Drop a comment and let me know. For me it’s usually a sick part or a really good song.  Until the next post… Happy skating!

Running low on cash?

If you are down on your luck or just in a slum because of the recession there maybe solutions to help you keep skating. First off boards, lets say you love a certain company and your current deck snaps. Need a quick fix? Pick up a blank deck at your local shop. Chances are they will carry ATM, Mini logo, Black Out and Good Wood. Shoes getting destroyed? Pick up some shoe goo at your local store for about 5 or 6 dollars. They ripped too bad to repair? Pick up and pair of no name brand shoes from somewhere like Target or Wal-Mart. They’re usually around 15 or 30 dollars. They may not skate the best but they should hold you over til you save up enough for the new pair of shoes in the shop you’ve had your eye on. For clothes, you don’t need to drop 60 bucks  on a pair of Krews or Altamont’s. No one’s going to die if you pick up a couple of pairs of Lee, or Levis from JcPenny’s or Kohl’s. Also maybe invest in a flannel or two, and a pack of blank tees. I promise you this will save you money if you are having financial problems but can’t stop skating.

The Berrics

If you are a skater then you have probably heard of a website called theberrics.com. If not then it pains me to say you have been deprived. This site is full of the latest in skateboarding. In terms of professionals, amateurs, locals, and upcoming kids. They cover everything. They have a ton of categories to keep you interested and to keep coming back for more. Battle at the Berrics is a game of skate competition that has gained a lot of popularity. Wednesdays with Reda is a series which follows their loud mouth, hardcore Italian guy from Brooklyn photographer. They post up anywhere from 1 to 5 video a day depending on what’s happening in skateboarding. They will occasionally put up a single video for a day and that will be the only video displayed on the main page. These are usually videos they want everyone to see that day. Definitely check it out on a regular basis to stay up to date.

Video Of The Day

I was looking at some videos on youtube yesterday. Went back to my home page and saw a new video posted up by one of the people I’m subscribed to. Looks like such a good video! The editing, filming, and skating are all very impressive. I hope I can see more footage from what these guys are working on. From the promo video that I viewed, the title of this video will be called “7” . It looks very legit. Definitely promising.  Check it out !

Garrett Hill on Fallen

It’s True. No more Osiris Shoes for this shredder. He has moved onto the Fallen Footwear team with Chris Cole and Billy Marks. I can’t wait to see some new footage of him now that he is riding with fallen. Until then check out his introduction video for the team.

Corridor Of Shame

Corridor of Shame is a video stright out of Texas. It is a film by John Danielson. This video features Aaron Wilson, JC Borden, Jeff Haley, David Langston, Dakota Roberson, Andrew “Brown Clown” Reneau, Whitney Collins, Michael Beuhler, Derek Simon, and Chris Luhring. It’s fille with tons of good skateboarding, professional grade filming and editing, and a ton of funny out takes. I bought this video around 1 month ago and have not been able to stop watching. The guys that are in this video are wicked chill, hilarious, and steezy. They even have a guest appearance by Lizard King and a small part for Cody McEntire. I would give this video a 9/10 if I had to rate it. It definitely has a re-watchable quality to it. I would recommend going to kingpinztx.com and ordering this video. Support local shops!

Mike Mo Capaldi

Mike Mo Capaldi certainly has made his name quite memorable and well-known. He had one of the best parts in one of the best skate videos of all time, Lakai Fully Flared. He grew up in Simi Valley, California. He began skateboarding at a very young age with his older brother Vince Capaldi. He was a very talented youngster, he would skate anything and everything. Until one day, a handrail decided it didn’t really like Mike. Mike Mo went for a 50-50 and slipped out. He fell back and broke his wrist. From that point on for a while he only skated flat ground. He became very good and consistent. Then he began skating other stuff again once he re-gained his confidence. When he got sponsored by Lakai Limited Footwear and Girl Skateboards he was one of the youngest they had at the time. He never started skateboarding to become famous but things certainly have turned out for the better I think. Check out his First Hand from Fuel TV.

Maloof Money Cup 2010

The Maloof Money Cup is coming to New York City this year. Joe and Gavin Maloof have recently announced that they’re competition will be held at Flushing Meadows- Corona Park in Queens. The competition will be June 5th and 6th. 1st place will get $100,000. The Maloofs will donate the $1.8 million skate park they construct for the competition, to the city. Seems like a good deal if you ask me. They bring one of skateboarding’ s sickest contests to New York City, build a professional grade park, then donate.
